All about us
Alexander Bain Funeral Directors were established over 100 years ago as Joiners and Undertakers by Jim Farquhar.
Many years ago, most Joiners and Cabinet Makers considered funerals as a secondary trade. This was due to their expertise in woodwork and their ability to manufacture high quality coffins.
The Funeral Directors was run from a small office and workshop down a small lane off the West High Street in Forfar. Over time, the funeral home expanded into the West High Street and backwards into the Myre, an area in Forfar which years ago was virtually part of Forfar Loch and after drying out became a large area of gardens, drying greens and allotments.
In 1996, Alexander Bain Funeral Directors was sold and Jim retired after 30 years of owning and managing the funeral home.
“Alexander Bain Funeral Directors have retained their well established name so familiar with the people of Forfar and Angus and the local staff who have collectively spent many years serving their local community.”
